Minding My Business… by: Naima Smith Moore 8/2020
As I reflect back over the weekend and the past few months, I just want to pause in the moment to say THANK YOU LORD! Just for being such an awesome and always patient God. Pause...Breathe in and Smell the flowers. Pause...Now, blow out all the energy that is causing you to procrastinate doubt, fear, worry, stress, and/or be anxious.
Pause...Breathe in and smell the ocean breeze on a sunny clear blue sky day. Do you hear the waves of the water crashing against the beach shore. Now, Pause...just pause...Life can take us on a tour that we did not plan and sometimes we have to be reminded to just Pause...Breathe and Smell.
This past weekend helped me to realize this important but yet simple aspect of our lives. Pause...Breathe and Smell.
Self care as well as taking time to see the beauty around us is a part of life, and the journey we all embark upon. However, sometimes we get so caught up in our everyday routines, we forget to Pause...Breathe and Smell.
Attending the Woman Evolve 20 Virtual Conference hosted by Pastor Sararh Jakes Roberts sealed this concept for me. During this two day leadership conference, helped me put in prospective the following: Life, Business and Ministry. In addition, the time during the conference allowed for clarity of who is connected to me during this season to help propel me into the next phase on this journey called life. The conference allowed me some time to focus on slowing down and seeing the bigger picture.
The metaphore of rain was used to help illustrate our purpose on this earth and the process in which we must go through to get to our desired goals, but most importantly, God’s goals. The example of Noah’s experience and the Ark was the focal point of the final session conference. The rain came so that the soil and seed that was established would have an opportunity to grow on good ground. In order for US to blossom, especially as women, we will have to stand in the rain. The Pause...Breathe and Smell moments helped me to connect the dots and have AH...Haaa moments, while minding my business.
While Pausing...Breathing and Smelling, we networked, were fed intellectually on financial management, mental health management, spiritual growth, we laughed, cried, worshipped, praised and encouraged to continue to be strong confident, leaders, unapologetically.
Lastly, while minding my business, I am always reminded of the greater good in life and that is human capital. I made a promise to invest time in my business, but most importantly to invest time in myself and human capital; those who reciprocate and those whom I love. Life is precious, each day we wake up is a gift of God’s grace and mercy for another day to be a blessing. Have you made someone smile today? Have you done a random act of kindness today? Have you done something for someone, unselfishly today? Pause...Breathe and Smell. I’m Minding my Father’s Business today, what about you?
